What is the SCP project?

MiOra has been an advocate for cancer patients since it was founded in 2016. Cancer outcomes are often poor in patients with delayed a diagnosis. Early screening and diagnosis are critical. In addition, strong community support can help to improve the outcomes.

Ovarian cancer is a leading cause of cancer-related death among American women. Shepherding the Cancer Patient (SCP) is a MiOra initiative to promote early diagnosis, treatment and clinical trial access of patients with ovarian cancer.

MiOra can provide online resources, in-person as well as tele-help for the patients with cancer and their families. HIPAA certified MiOra Interns are here to help! Please feel free to contact us if you need our support or if you like to partner with us on this critical project.

Why Cancer?

Cancer is the leading cause of death globally with the number of yearly cases expected to continue rising. With today’s growing elderly populations, cancer education and treatment has never been more important as about 1 in 3 people will be diagnosed with cancer. Many different types of cancers may go undiagnosed and continue to progress as symptoms may be mistaken for other conditions.

MiOra developed a support program for patients with cancer diagnosis, their families and primary care providers. MiOra has a team of trained health educators to improve the communication between the patient and the provider, to improve patient satisfaction, quality of life and patient survival.

Why Cancer Clinical Trials?

Cancer clinical trials are the only process to develop new treatments; however less than 5% of cancer patients enroll in clinical trials. By participating in a clinical trial, you may be given first-hand access to new cutting-edge treatments that are not otherwise available.

Participation in clinical trials also provides you with the opportunity to assist in the improvement of cancer treatment
