MiOra Mentor Idriss Fassassi was raised in the suburbs of Washington DC and he is currently an Epidemiologist at the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health. He works with a team of health professionals that prevent outbreaks of vaccine preventable diseases. He holds his Masters in Public Health from New York Medical College, and his Bachelor’s degree in Biobehavioral Health from Penn State University. Mr. Fassassi has recently mentored the students at the Health Messaging Showcase event organized by Orthopedic High School teachers (LAUSD) and Brian Boyle from LA Chamber of Commerce-Unite LA program. MiOra mentor, Certified Physician Assistant with Ear Nose Throat Specialization, Raquel Vasquez PA-C from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center visited Kid City and gave career guidance to promising high school students Diana Balbuena (junior) and Roxana Flores (senior) from Orthopaedic Medical Magnet HS. The students learned about the educational requirements, salary and the life style of physician assistants. Thank you Ms. Vasquez! Keep up the good work students! Bill Remak, the CEO of California Hepatitis C Task Force and the Chairman of the National Association of Hepatitis Task Forces, is the newest MiOra mentor (www.miora.org). MiOra nonprofit (www.miora.org) welcomes Dr. Serap Sobnosky, an Interventional Cardiologist from Dignity Health at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Long Beach, CA, as a new MiOra mentor. Originally from Turkey, Dr Sobnosky completed Cardiology fellowship training at the Ludwig Maximal University, Munich Germany where she did gene therapy research and at the Sunset Kaiser Permanente, USA, where she also did Interventional Cardiology training. Dr. Sobnosky is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology and she is the Program Director of the Women and Heart Center at St. Mary’s Hospital in Long Beach, CA.
