MiOra Mentee Kimberly Felix Is A Project Assistant For The NEAT Study At USC Herting Laboratory!
Miora | October 1, 2018
NEAT stands for Neuroimaging, Emotions and Appetite Testing, and it is a study looking at the impact of prenatal hormones on the development of emotional and food related neurocircuitry in children (https://hertinglab.usc.edu/index.php/current-research/). Kimberly will be responsible for subject recruitment, attending study visits, collecting and cleaning data. Very important job!
Kimberly has recently graduated from Cal State Univ. Long Beach, Health Sciences Dept.; she has been involved in multiple MiOra public health projects. Kimberly says her experience at MiOra “opened up opportunities for me to engage in research and get an idea of what exactly it entails. I was also given the opportunity to network with other researchers by attending conferences. It was beneficial because I was not only learning but was able to improve my communication skills. Miora gave me the necessary resources and guidance to be able to stand on my own.” “…my advice to students is that networking is so important because you never know when meeting someone can open up doors for you in the near future.”
