MiOra (www.miora.org) organized an amazing Career Event on March 21st at the Kearns High School in Utah. Two esteemed MiOra mentors, Lindsay Andrews, a Registered Labor and Delivery Nurse, and Dede Vilven, an Epidemiologist with a Master’s Degree in Public Health joined the students and talked about their education, professional life style and average salary. They shared the economic difficulties they experienced while growing up, and how they overcame those challenges. The mentors advised the students to be proactive early on, to gain real world experience by volunteering or interning. The students were excited to learn about the different healthcare career paths available. The MiOra Career Event was very well received; a third event is being planned. Thank you to the mentors Lindsay Andrews and Dede Vilven for taking the time to guide the students, and to their dedicated @HOSA teacher, Misty Marrow for being proactive and bringing expert mentors to her class!
