MiOra (www.miora.org) is excited to start a brand-new partnership with Kid City (kidcityhopeplace.org) and provide mentoring, research experience and college persistence support to Kid City students, most of whom are first-generation college or college-bound students from very low income families living in central and south Los Angeles. Kid City currently serves approximately 200 students.
Kid City is a community where kids and young adults develop leadership and agency skills, and intellectual curiosity; they are encouraged to be their best and to pursue their dreams. Kid City offers leadership, culture and arts, college access, and college completion programs.
Thank you to Jordan K., the Kid City student leader, for being proactive and mediating this partnership. Jordan said “Many of MiOra’s high school students have had the opportunity to work on clinical research projects from the bottom up; identifying a problem, building a research project, and performing and collecting data to answer their research question. MiOra is a great resource for me and I hope it will be as great a resource for Kid City students as well!”
