MiOra Foundation Mentee Emma C. Met With Her Mentor, Dr. Chung, A Cardiothoracic Surgeon at the Acclaimed Cedars-Sinai Heart Institute in Los Angeles, California.
MiOra owes many thanks to Dr. Alfredo Trento, the Director of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the Cedars-Sinai Heart Institute, for facilitating 10th grade Buckley School student and MiOra mentee Emma C.’s visit to Cedars-Sinai. There, Emma met her mentor, Dr. Joshua S. Chung and asked him candid questions about his career path. Dr. Chung, a practicing cardiothoracic surgeon at the CSMC, earned his MD from Loma Linda University School of Medicine (https://medicine.llu.edu/) in 2007 and was more than happy to provide guidance to Emma.
When asked about her experience, Emma remarked that it was “very cool to be able to talk to a cardiothoracic surgeon, someone who is actually in the profession of my interest.” Furthermore, Emma’s mom reflected that “this type of mentoring, with real world professionals, people with the career of the child’s interest, was very valuable.” If you’d like to learn more about Dr Chung’s answers to Emma’s questions about being a cardiothoracic surgeon or how to make this happen for yourself or your child, please check out our website www.MiOra.org. @cedarssinai @buckley
